Tru-Steel HD® uses a large-format HD digital printer to transfer high-resolution images of real wood, stone, designer metals, and more onto steel.
Ultra-HD Printing
Our advanced digital printer can print at up to 400 dpi resolution. For reference, most professional wedding photos are printed at 300 dpi. That’s a ~33% increase in quality.
Authentic Appearance
The Tru-Steel HD® design team meticulously images real wood, stone, metals, and more to create a hyper-realistic source for our prints.
Millions of Colors
With millions of ink color combinations available, Tru-Steel HD® prints capture the intricate tones and hues of the source materials.
Up to 32-Foot Repeat
Most competitors repeat an entire pattern every 3-4 feet. Our standard images run up to 32 feet in length, allowing for details such as woodgrain knots, stone chips and cracks, and copper mottling with a seamless repeat.
How Tru-Steel HD® Works
Tru-Steel HD® starts with a single layer of steel and adds six coating and print layers. The steel is melted and rolled at Steel Dynamics, and every coating, image, and clear coat is applied on our own production lines.
We control production from start to finish, delivering a high-quality, sustainable product.

Steel Dynamics is proud to operate some of the most environmentally friendly steel mills in the entire world. We use low-carbon-emissions Electric Arc Furnace technology at our steel-producing facilities and follow a Circular Manufacturing Method, sourcing raw materials from our own scrap operations.
When our steel products reach the end of their lifecycle, they are scrapped, recycled, and melted into new steel, completing a full circle. This combination of modern steelmaking technology and supply-chain efficiency enables us to achieve industry-low Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
